Promoting UK seafood internationally
This page has information on:
The UK has a global reputation for high-quality seafood and is home to some of the freshest fish and shellfish in the world. We also have a history of trading seafood that dates back hundreds of years.
We create connections and provide opportunities for UK companies to promote their products to overseas buyers. We can help you with:
- support at international seafood trade shows
- marketing and promotional assets that businesses can use to help promote your products.
Trade shows are a great opportunity to meet buyers and many large seafood businesses use them as part of their sales and marketing plans. We can support with attendance at seafood trade shows and in some cases will host a stand at events.
Seafood Expo North America (SENA) in Boston
We’re partnering with Defra and the Department for International Trade to host the first ever UK seafood pavilion at SENA from 12 to 14 March 2023. The pavilion will have an open communal lounge as well as a demonstration kitchen and sampling zone.
There are opportunities for UK seafood businesses to use the facilities, attend an event or supply seafood products. Follow the link below to find out more:
Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona
We will be bringing the UK seafood pavilion back to Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona. Europe’s biggest seafood trade show will be returning from 25 to 27 April 2023.
Exhibitor spaces are now all filled but there are still opportunities for UK seafood businesses to use the lounge or meeting room, attend an event or supply seafood products.

In 2022 we hosted a UK pavilion at the Expo with the Department for International Trade (DIT) and DEFRA. We had over 60sqm of dedicated exhibition space available for UK seafood companies to hire at a subsidised rate. Over 160 people visited the pavilion each day and more than 350 samples of UK seafood were given out.

We received great feedback from attendees at the event.
Visiting as an exhibitor allowed us to meet face to face with all potential new clients and really understand their businesses, allowing our rapport to grow faster.
Only one week later we are already exporting to new markets and have many more prospective clients!

We have supported the development of a marketing toolkit to promote UK seafood in overseas markets. It celebrates the quality and sustainability of seafood from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and the skilled communities who produce it.
It was produced in collaboration with DIT and DEFRA. The toolkit is being used by DITs global staff in important markets for the UK. It includes a promotional video and a sales deck.
You can find out more about the marketing toolkit in the video below:
