Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) establishes a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities.

This includes government departments, and as such, it applies to Seafish. This means you may request any information from Seafish, unless this information falls under one of the Act's exemptions. You are entitled to:

  1. Be informed in writing by the Office on whether or not it holds the information specified by your request, and
  2. If that is the case, to have that information communicated to you.

For more information about this, you can read the Act here or read the Information Commissioner's Office guidance on the Act here.
