Seafood Expo Global 2022 - UK seafood exhibit - Seafish

5 reasons to exhibit with Seafish at Seafood Expo Global 2022

The Seafood Expo Global returns in April in Barcelona. Phillip Quirie has 5 reasons why UK seafood companies should join our UK seafood pavilion.

What is Seafood Expo Global?

Seafood Expo Global is the largest seafood event on the planet. It is an enormous trade show, where seafood buyers meet seafood sellers from across the globe. Previously held in Brussels, the Expo outgrew the venue and was scheduled to move to the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona in 2020.

But we all know what happened then.

We’re glad to report that the show is back, taking place over three days between 26 and 28 April 2022. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get UK seafood companies into the global seafood marketplace in a post-EU exit landscape.

Seafood Expo Global takes place at the Fira de Barcelona from 26-28 April 2022

What is the UK seafood pavilion and how much will it cost?

The new UK pavilion offers companies the exhibition space to showcase products, do business, and build global connections. We’ve partnered with Defra and the Department for International Trade to fund and subsidise some of the associated space, design, and build costs of the pavilion.

This means we can offer seafood businesses a 9sqm exhibition booth for just £6,000. This is a saving of £1,600 so it pays to come with us.

We have 11 booths but they are selling fast so get in touch ASAP to secure your slot!

Still need convincing? Here are five reasons to exhibit at our UK seafood pavilion.

1. It’s the biggest seafood event in the world

More than 29,000 seafood professionals from over 150 countries attended the show in 2019. Attendees include owners, proprietors, executive purchasing managers, category managers, private label program buyers, and virtually every other type of seafood buyer you can imagine.

Seafood Expo Global attracts key buyers from high-volume seafood purchasers in:

  • multi-unit retail, supermarkets and grocers
  • foodservice establishments, fast food operators and high-volume caterers
  • airlines, cruise lines, resorts and hotels
  • distributors, manufacturers, processors and wholesalers
  • Government, military and hospitals

Join the UK pavilion and put your business in front of the world’s largest seafood purchasers!

2. We’ll organise everything for you

We want to make your participation at Seafood Expo Global as simple as it can be. We offer a one-stop package where all the necessary organisation, administration, planning and preparation is done for you.

The pavilion and booth are constructed on your behalf. This includes provision of furniture, lighting, and power, passes for you and your staff and access to a communal kitchen and prep area.

Additional specialised display items and frozen or chilled storage units for your products are not included in this cost and need to be hired but we can help you work with the event organisers to arrange it.

We want to put you in a big hall full of potential buyers whilst absorbing as much of the associated preparation work as possible. You’ll just need to get yourselves over there.

3. Be part of something new

Photo shows a pavilion of exhibitors in a huge conference centre hall. There is a Union Jack flag and images of fish on the display.
We were part of a similar pavilion at the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo in 2019

This is the first time we've organised a UK seafood pavilion at Seafood Expo Global. We want to celebrate UK seafood at the biggest show in town and tell the world what makes our seafood truly GREAT!

The pavilion has an open reception and lounge area, in which several events will be hosted. These will include ‘Meet the buyer’ and ‘Meet the Department for International Trade’ sessions. We’ll also have a new ‘Great Seafood from the UK’ marketing toolkit on show.

There will be a chef demonstration and sampling area, where skilled seafood chefs can show the preparation and cooking of UK seafood. As a booth owner, you’ll have prime access to the on-stand events, and the opportunity to have your products featured on the chef demonstration area.

We have chosen a prime location and we’re next to the Spain pavilion, so we expect good footfall.

4. In three days you can achieve a year’s worth of business and sales goals

Most companies who exhibit at seafood expos go again the following year. And the next year. And the year after that. You get the picture.

According to exhibitors at the 2019 show, 94% met their goals for the show and 99% planned to exhibit again.

I’ve had multiple anecdotes shared by exhibiting companies which prove (without ever going into actual numbers) how valuable these expos are to them.

Succinctly put “We wouldn’t come back if it wasn’t worth it!”

5. It’s three days in Barcelona!

Barcelona is beautiful and charming. Have you ever been to Barcelona as spring turns to summer? I have, it was sunny and warm. You’ll like it, and I hear the seafood is pretty good.
