Bivalve Purification Training

Bivalve shellfish such as mussels and oysters are required to be purified before they are sold unless they are harvested from Class A Waters. Seafish and the Seafood Training Academy provide information and training to employers and employees involved in the harvesting, purification, handling and trading of bivalve shellfish.

Training Courses and qualifications

There are four different training courses for staff and managers in Bivalve Purification and Despatch Centres, as well as a work based proficiency qualification at level 2 for operatives and supervisors.

The operations, inspections and HACCP courses are all joint awards between Seafish and REHIS.
