An initiative has been launched to unite, empower and increase the voice of those who have experienced modern slavery and human trafficking.

This follows a report from the University of Nottingham. Minh Dang, PhD student and one of the founders of the Alliance alongside other experts from the University’s Rights Lab, said “We have created the Survivor Alliance to support survivors who are actively engaged in anti-slavery efforts as NGO leaders, authors, artists, and trainers.” The group are providing a consulting referral service, which will begin with an online listing of specific survivor consulting opportunities.

Significance for seafood businesses:

Not seafood-specific. Useful for awareness as an alliance working to support the industry, and improve governance, safety and welfare within the global seafood industry.
