A not for profit membership organisation dedicated to driving improvements in responsible and ethical business practices in global supply chains.

The role of Sedex is to enable organisations to effectively share and manage supply chain information to drive continuous improvement. Sedex offers a simple and effective way of managing ethical and responsible practices in your supply chain through Sedex Advance – a secure, online database which allows members to store, share and report on information on four key areas: Labour Standards, Health & Safety, The Environment and Business Ethics. They undertake ethical audits.

In July 2018 Stronger Together and Sedex announced a new partnership to work together to amplify support for businesses to tackle forced labour and modern slavery. This complementary partnership brings together two organisations with unique positions within the responsible business community with the shared aim to reduce forced labour in global supply chains.

Significance for seafood businesses:

Not seafood-specific. There are a number of organisations that offer practical business support to help manage socially responsible business practices. There are also various tools and guidance notes available which are free to use which will help buyers manage their supply chain and make a more informed judgement on the risks they face when sourcing seafood.
