The Global Social Compliance Programme (GSCP) is a business-driven, open-source platform working towards and promoting the harmonisation of efforts for the improvement of working and environmental conditions in global supply chains.

The Global Social Compliance Programme is an independent programme hosted within The Consumer Goods Forum, a not-for-profit association. The GSCP sets an international reference on best practices for sustainable supply chain management for all actors to use. It is an open-source platform that helps members work towards and promote the harmonisation of efforts for the improvement of working and environmental conditions in global supply chains. The GSCP has built a complete suite of Reference Tools for members compiling best corporate practices for managing sustainable supply chains. The tools are open-source, applicable globally and across sectors. As a global reference, the tools may be used and adapted to local or sector-specific contexts.

Significance for seafood businesses:

Not seafood-specific. There are a number of organisations that offer practical business support to help manage socially responsible business practices. There are also various tools and guidance notes available which are free to use which will help buyers manage their supply chain and make a more informed judgement on the risks they face when sourcing seafood.
