We’re returning to the Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo (JISTE) this August. Find out how your business can get involved.

In partnership with Seafood Scotland, we are hosting a combined UK pavilion at the event in Tokyo. The UK and Seafood from Scotland pavilion will create a strong presence at the expo for a third consecutive year, showcasing seafood from Scotland and the wider UK.

Did you know?

  • More than 630 visitors attended the UK pavilion at the expo in 2024.
  • The majority of visitors came from Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, as well as other countries, making this expo a key platform for those interested in Asian markets.
  • Over 1,200 samples of UK seafood were served out of the pavilion’s live kitchen last year.
  • Our experienced Japanese chef, and supporting chef team, showcased a selection of UK fish and shellfish species, popular in Asian markets - including mackerel, Atlantic salmon, langoustine, whelks, brown crab, and European lobster.

What can your business gain? Feedback from UK companies who attended the expo in 2024 indicated very significant trade wins, with further expectations of growth. Exhibitors told us that Japanese customers and other expo visitors value the face-to-face interactions each year, which helps to build trust and bolster commercial relationships.

About the Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo

Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo (JISTE) is one of the primary seafood trade exhibitions in Asia, attracting seafood companies and buyers from across Asia and further afield. Held at Tokyo Big Sight between 20-22 August, it will be the 27th edition of the expo and is expected to be larger and busier than ever before.

With over 22,000 visitors attending last year’s expo, this year’s event is projected to attract more than 25,000 across its three days.  Organisers also expect a rise in exhibitor numbers, surpassing last year’s 630 – will your business be part of this exciting growth?

About the pavilion

Our 84sqm pavilion will be located along the central aisles of Hall 6 at Tokyo Big Sight, establishing a prominent UK presence at this leading international seafood trade exhibition.

The space includes:

  • A communal lounge for meetings.
  • A live kitchen for recipe sampling and product demos.
  • On-site interpreters and support from Seafish and Seafood Scotland staff.
  • Branded podiums (free of charge for UK exporters, limited availability).

Opportunities for UK seafood businesses

Attending companies can apply for a free of charge branded podium on the pavilion. These free-standing podiums act as a reception desk and are an ideal signpost and focal point for your business.

The communal meeting space within the UK pavilion offers an ideal setting for business discussions. UK Government trade specialists will also be on-hand to help you best understand the Japanese market and to help forge those all-important connections. In addition, interpreters will be available to facilitate discussions in Japanese and English.

Live kitchen and recipe demonstrations

UK seafood businesses also have the chance to showcase fish and shellfish species and associated products during JISTE 2025. We’d love to hear from businesses interested in donating samples of their seafood products for use as part of the UK pavilion’s live kitchen.

UK registered seafood export companies can apply for a branded podium or express an interest in supplying product via the form in the section below.
