This Species Guide to Lemon sole contains information on sustainability issues, stock assessment, conservation measures and management worldwide for the individual stocks of this species updated to January 2014. There is a short section on the product characteristics of the species. The information was obtained from scientific, industry and governmental sources and appropriate references are given.

This New Zealand profile looks at the main seafood products; seafood exports to UK; employment in seafood; human trafficking and forced labour indicators and rankings and research reports; ratification of international human rights and labour instruments; fisheries policy and management structure/administration; control of IUU fishing and related labour abuse; measures to protect migrant fishers; partnerships and improvement projects; and an overall assessment or criteria for overall risk assessment for New Zeland.

Notes from BSCI event on "Labour conditions in Thai Fisheries and Food" 28 February 2014

The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) and the ILO have joined forces to seek for pragmatic solutions and synergies to improve working conditions in the Food Processing industry in Thailand. This meeting gives continuity to the previous discussions conducted with the relevant stakeholders last year in Thailand. International brands and retailers working with this industry are invited to join forces in an open debate to identify the major bottlenecks and find solutions together. The meeting will provide a good understanding of the current labour situation and the work of different initiatives. Furthermore, it will provide an open platform for discussion towards an action plan for Thailand.

Seafish commissioned a study to assess the ethical issues impacting on seafood species landed into, and imported to the UK from a wide range of countries. This work has been presented in three parts: an analytical report, leading to strategic recommendations for follow-up; a set of 15 risk assessment profiles; and a comprehensive literature review. This is a topline summary of the ethics profiles of the 15 countries or regions which Seafish, after consulting with industry representatives, has analysed. These are: Chile, China, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Philippines, Russian Federation, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.

Cod (2016 update) - Seafood Industry Factsheet

Cod consumption in retail has been growing since 2013, as supply eases and prices soften. In 2015, cod total retail sales (excluding discounters) were worth £364m (+2.4%) at 44,887 tonnes (+3.6%), with an average price of £8.10 (-1.1%).
