Satellite Based Monitoring System for EEC Fisheries
This report has been prepared by Seafish as a contribution towards a study in which the merits of a satellite based montiroing system are to be reviewed against a number of fisheries management options and for which the basic parameters of a proposed system would be defined. The remit of Seafish is to provide necessary information regarding the range of nations' fleets which are based in the northern waters of the EEZ of the Community (basically the areas of the Baltic, Irish and North Seas and of the Atlantic Ocean north of Finistere). At present the waters are fished by Member Nation vessels from Belgium, Denmark, Eire, France, Geermany, Holland, Spain and the UK and much of the commentary is made in respect of the efforts of these fleets. -
