Flip Up Ropes Construction
Flip Up Ropes similar to those used by beam trawlers are now being designed for use on demersal otter trawls to help prevent stones and boulders entering the trawl and causing damage to both gear and catches.
The fact sheet below shows one design and fitting routine that has proved successful with many UK skippers. It has been used successfully by small under 10m vessels and on larger trawlers in the region of 30m on both single and multi-rig gear.
