Melamine
There have been no reported cases of melamine contamination in seafood imported into the UK or Europe.
While melamine has not been found in fishery products, all food is subject to regulatory limits.

*The maximum level does not apply to food for which it can be proven that the level of melamine higher than 2.5 mg/kg is the consequence of authorised use of cyromazine as insecticide. The melamine level shall not exceed the level of cyromazine.
The relevant regulation in England, Scotland and Wales is assimilated EU Regulation 1881/2006 as amended by The Contaminants in Food (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. In Northern Ireland the relevant regulation is Regulation (EU) 2023/915.
