Framework for Social Responsibility provides guidance to help the seafood industry define social responsibility in the seafood sector.

The Framework for Social Responsibility has been developed by the Certification and Ratings Collaboration. The participating organizations are the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, Fair Trade USA, Marine Stewardship Council, Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, and Sustainable Fisheries Partnership. This states that one of the main activities of the Collaboration has been the development of a framework to help the seafood industry define social responsibility in the seafood sector. As a first step in agreeing on a common framework, the Collaboration reviewed the main efforts and tools currently used to improve social performance in seafood supply chains and interviewed NGOs, buyers, and government agencies to better understand the issues and gaps that exist.

Significance for seafood businesses:

This is a framework (seafood specific) that could help seafood buyers make an informed judgement on the risks they face when sourcing seafood.
