Transition to GSA

The RFS has moved to Global Seafood Assurances (GSA) to help provide assurance to the global seafood supply chain.

In order for the RFS standard to reach its full potential as a supply chain assurance tool, in 2017, Seafish launched a public procurement exercise to find a not-for-profit entity to operate, manage and deliver the RFS on a global scale. In 2018, an agreement was signed to migrate the RFS to the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s new not-for-profit, Global Seafood Assurances (GSA).

Seafish and GSA worked in partnership to develop the next iteration of the scheme – the Responsible Fishing Vessel Standard (RFVS). The new standard was published in June 2020 and is owned and operated by Global Seafood Assurances.

Current RFS members will transition to the new standard during 2020. For more information, please see the RFS Member Transition page.
