Seafood processing census

We collect information from UK seafood processing businesses each year to ensure the scale and performance of the sector are accurately measured.

Our processing census helps us to put together an accurate picture of the seafood processing sector in the UK. Results are shared with industry and government to inform business decisions, economic understanding and policy development.

The 2026 census will run from April to June and is open to all UK seafood processing businesses.

Our processing survey is open to all seafood processing businesses in the UK. The 2026 survey runs April to June.

Why participate?

The seafood processing sector continues to face significant change, including:

  • Evolving regulatory frameworks
  • New trading relationships
  • Immigration policy and workforce availability
  • Rising operating and energy costs

It is important for industry and government to have accurate, up-to-date information on the sector. The census helps us to create an accurate picture of financial performance and socio-economic importance including jobs and Gross Value Added (GVA). The more businesses that participate, the stronger and more representative the evidence base for the sector.

Census data also directly informs our work to support processors and strengthens engagement with policymakers on the issues that matter most to your business.
