New Entrants Photo ID Card
Following the completion of the first four mandatory basic safety courses (Sea Survival, Fire Fighting, First Aid and Health & Safety) new entrants can apply for their credit card sized 4 in 1 card which lists the certificates they have obtained. Experienced Fisherman’s Photo ID Card
New entrants can apply for their Photo ID Card to be upgraded to an Experienced Fisherman Photo ID Card once they have completed Safety Awareness training and been working for two years. This credit card sized 5 in 1 card lists the five certificates obtained. To apply for this card, please download and complete the application form here.
Under 16.5m Skipper’s Certificate Photo ID Card (Restricted and Unrestricted)
These cards can be obtained by experienced fishermen who have already completed the five courses above and who have then gone on to complete additional training in Stability Awareness, GMDSS Radio Operation, Navigation/Bridge Watchkeeping and Engineering/Engine room Watchkeeping.
Once these courses have been completed fishermen can then apply for either the Restricted Certificate (for fishing up to 20 miles off-shore) or the Unrestricted Certificate (for fishing beyond 20 miles).

Renewals for Under 16.5m Skipper’s Certificate Photo ID Card
These certificates are valid for five years, after which they must be revalidated. To renew either of these cards please fill out the renewal application form that can be downloaded here.
