Seafish has announced that this year's UK Seafood Summit is set to be the biggest yet, taking place on the 17th-18th October at a new North Lincolnshire location with the key theme unveiled as 'Seafood is the way forward'.
The annual event, formerly known as the Humber Seafood Summit, is widely recognised as the two most important days in the UK seafood calendar. It is organised by Seafish, the public body that supports the £6bn UK seafood industry.
Last year's summit in Grimsby and Cleethorpes saw 200 key opinion formers join respected industry leaders and government officials from the UK and Europe to discuss issues
Seafish took the decision to move the event to the larger capacity venue near Scunthorpe in response to increasing demand for places. 100 more delegates will be able to attend this year and the whole programme will be held in one location.
Registration is now open for the event and delegates can expect to hear from leading industry figureheads who will give their insights into the current state of the seafood industry and its future outlook.
Discussions will centre around consumer demands, consumption trends, innovation, sustainable sourcing, the supply chain, and the changing political, economic and regulatory landscape in relation to Brexit.
The two-day summit opens on Wednesday 17thOctober with an afternoon networking event, followed by a Seafood Fayre showcasing seafood from around the UK and local produce. The conference takes place the following day on Thursday 18th October.
Seafish Chief Executive, Marcus Coleman, said: "Seafood is the way forward for business, communities, the environment and for personal health and wellbeing. This summit provides an invaluable opportunity for the industry to come together to network, share ideas and discuss major issues, ensuring a thriving seafood industry for all.
"The event has become increasingly popular year on year and is now one of the flagship events in the global seafood calendar, attracting delegates from all over the UK and overseas.
"This year, with a new name and a new location, the summit is set to be bigger and better than ever and we look forward to continuing to host this event for many more years to come."
Registration is now open for those who wish to attend the summit and early registration is encouraged to secure your space. Book your place here.
