With over 2,300 attendees visiting the 190 exhibitors, the 2018 Aquaculture UK Expo held in Aviemore over 23rd - 24th May gave Seafish a fantastic opportunity to highlight its growing support of the UK aquaculture industry.
Aquaculture Manager Lee Cocker from the Seafish Responsible Sourcing team organised and manned the Seafish stand which was branded with the authority's new logo.
Recently Seafish has created a new Aquaculture Profiles online tool which clearly details the ins and outs of farmed species. This was met with extensive and positive feedback, and visitors to the Seafish stand had the opportunity to explore the profiles as well as collect hard copies of aquaculture reports, training, market analysis, insight information and other material produced by Seafish.
The Expo was also a great chance for members of the aquaculture industry to understand how Seafish is funded, the work it does and hear about changes under its new Corporate Plan.
Seafish also had the opportunity to network with other exhibitors and existing stakeholders. Producers, universities, regulators, agencies and other aquaculture service providers engaged in discussions with Seafish staff and gave updates on the latest innovations in the industry.
Attendance at the Expo emphasised the importance to Seafish of having a presence at such events and the extensive engagement that can be achieved. The next similar event will be AQUA 2018, 25th - 29th Aug in Montpellier, France ( https://aquaeas.eu/39-uncategorised/383-welcome-to-aqua-2018).
The Seafish Aquaculture web pages (/article/aquaculture) offer a wealth of information on the world of aquaculture and the work we are doing.
