Onshore Training News in Brief - May 2020

Remote Learning Expansion

We are expanding our range of courses available by remote learning.  Management of Food Authenticity and also Introduction to HACCP in the Seafood Industry will be available in June and supported with Seafish onshore funding. View a list of up-to-date remote training courses available.

Funding support for seafood sector

Funding is being used to provide free access to food hygiene and health & safety qualifications to those working in the UK seafood industry. Individuals can benefit from online learning materials and a paid for invigilated examination that leads to a nationally recognised qualification from REHIS. Funding is also being used to subsidise and underwrite the cost of training courses that are being delivered remotely for the first time.

Individuals interested in Elementary online courses need not apply for funding before starting their studies.  Instead they should get started right away. When they are halfway through their online studies, they can email onshore@seafish.co.uk confident that their invigilated exam will be free of charge until the end of June if they follow our simple online guidelines.

For information on how to register your interest in funding support for your business then visit this webpage.

Working with other organisations

We are working with other training providers, awarding bodies and network partners to support the take-up of training across the UK.

In Scotland we are working with Network partners to secure additional funding support for training delivery and we are working with other Networks to identify key training issues that can assist businesses in all sectors in the short term.

Staff Training on the Principles of Infection Control and Safe Working

HIT Training, a Seafish recognised apprenticeship provider is launching their new infection control training course this month.

Keeping your customers and workforce safe is going to be priority, so to support your business HIT Training is offering every seafood hospitality business one complimentary place on their new comprehensive training course ‘Principles of Infection Control and Safe Working’.

The four-hour tutor-led online course will provide your front-line employees with a solid, working foundation to control and prevent the spread of infection in the workplace.

It will give learners the skills to understand the chain of infection and how to break it, methods of protecting themselves and others (including customers) against infection, correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and how to implement infection prevention and control procedures safely. To find out more and to book your place, visit the HIT Training website.
