Chair of Seafood Industry Leadership Group Seafood 2040

The Seafood 2040 Strategic Framework (Seafood 2040) is the result of shared enterprise from stakeholders across the seafood supply chain in pursuit of a forward-thinking action plan setting out a vision for an English seafood sector that is sustainable and truly thriving – a success story on built on collaboration, innovation and best practice. Seafood 2040 is implemented and facilitated by Seafish, and supported by Defra and the seafood sector, for an initial two-year period funded via the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. The Chair of Seafood 2040 leads the Seafood Industry Leadership Group (SILG) and, together with a Seafish project manager, ensures delivery of the priority actions in the Seafood 2040 Strategic Framework.

Reporting to: CEO Seafish, Minister of State for Fisheries

We are seeking a new Chairperson to continue providing leadership and direction to SILG members, initially until September 2020, with a focus on securing further funding to continue the work on Seafood 2040 and a review of the actions in the framework and their priority for implementation.

The Chairperson will work closely with the Seafish project manager, the Seafish executive lead and the SILG members, to ensure delivery of the priority actions of Seafood 2040. We are seeking someone who can bring their experience to the programme and chair SILG meetings in a stimulating and carefully considered way to achieve strategic decision-making.

This is an influential role which requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the willingness to challenge and a proven ability to drive consensus. Candidates should have knowledge of the food sector and ideally of the seafood sector in particular, within England and the wider UK.
