Project Manager

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Communications and Marketing team here at Seafish. This role is based in Edinburgh and reports to our Marketing Manager.

1. Job Purpose

  • To lead the development of a new corporate website and manage the entire life of the project, from conception to live online delivery.

2. Dimensions

  • Fully research project to ensure compatibility with Seafish audiences
  • Ensure deadlines are met and workload is managed effectively
  • Adhere to strict brand guidelines
  • Engage with all relevant staff within the Seafish organisation
  • Deliver new website within specified timeframe

3. Accountabilities 

  • Responsibility for the production, implementation and management of a project plan 
  • Interview and liaise with staff to understand the needs of the organisation and business processes undertaken
  • Propose solutions for appropriate CMS systems, structure and user journey
  • Propose solutions and creation for a customer focused approach to website build
  • Document and business process creation for the project
  • Weekly reporting on the project highlights
  • Responsibility for securing staff buy-in for new website

4. Planning and organising 

  • Manage own workload and priorities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Effective and strategic organisation required to ensure delivery of key milestones, project outputs and delivery 
  • Engage with identified agencies and suppliers
  • Engage with staff at all levels 

5. Decision making and judgement

  • Ability to make good judgements and advise on best approach and solutions
  • Ability to prioritise own workload on a day-to-day basis
  • Recognise when to escalate an issue or problem
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to utilise project management and internal reporting systems

6. Essential working relationships 

Internal relationships

  • Report to the Marketing Manager and liaise closely with the Digital Engagement Officer and other specialists in Marcomms, IS and wider departments.

External relationships

  • Externally the post holder will liaise with systems providers/agency by email, telephone and face to face communications.

7. Knowledge, skills and experience                

  • 4-5 years of project management experience 
  • In-depth experience of leading and delivering on website development projects 
  • Understanding of formal project management processes
  • In-depth experience of developing internet products and technologies
  • Demonstrable experience to capture and distil key business requirements into functional specification documents
  • Ability to understand, interpret and explain technical information clearly and in an appropriate style
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite to intermediate level experience 
  • Good presentation skills at a well-developed level with the ability to speak English plainly and clearly
  • Advanced and well developed literacy skills with the ability to communicate complex information easily 
  • Fully competent in behaviour competencies as outlined in our Seafish values: integrity, collaborate, innovate, accountable, expert, driven
  • Will be required to be a confident communicator who can demonstrate a clear in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of website development
  • Must build quick strong and effective relationships with senior staff and users of the Website
  • Ability to remain focused but be flexible where required to work with staff at all levels of the organisation to achieve a positive outcome.
