Infrastructure Administrator

We are looking for a Infrastructure Administrator to join our Information Systems team here at Seafish. This role is based in Grimsby and reports to our Head of Information Systems.

1. Job Purpose

  • Design, implement and maintain the IT infrastructure for the business
  • Server administration
  • Ensure the security of company data
  • Provide all support (levels 1 through 3)

2. Dimensions

  • Information Systems ambassador within the Seafish 
  • Information Assets audit and control
  • Development and provision of IS and IT services
  • Manage external contracts which will include software and hardware maintenance
  • Provide 1st, 2nd & 3rd line support to staff

3. Principal Accountabilities 

Operational

  • Design, implement and administer systems that will unify Seafish' knowledge.
  • Work with Heads of Teams to bring comprehensive and dynamic development opportunities to further streamline the business
  • Information Asset control and auditing to make sure that all knowledge is safe, secure and catalogued.
  • Design & implement agreed IT and IS policies/strategies to fit current and future requirements of Seafish in conjunction with other members of the IS team
  • Work with ticketing system to ensure all tickets are raised and completed promptly
  • Provide 1st, 2nd & 3rd line support to staff

Project Management

  • Identify, plan, deliver and evaluate projects, ensuring the timely and satisfactory completion of outputs.
  • Participate in and lead project teams

Developing the Service

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Information Systems for the business
  • Championing Information Systems with all members of staff to ensure secure and safe systems meeting Seafish standards before deployment

Ensuring Quality of Service

  • Make recommendations to maintain and improve the quality of training provision


4. Planning and organising 

  • Development and formulation of long term plan/strategy for IT and IS with the Head of Information Systems
  • Day to day planning and organising and prioritise daily tasks, project work, administrative duties
  • Assists in the weekly and monthly planning and implementation of group developments/projects in conjunction with other team members and the Head of Information Systems
  • Plan annual work programme/budget in conjunction with the Head of Information Systems
  • Proactive work in response to short, medium and long-term organisational objectives and business needs
  • Reactive work in response to business needs
  • Need to be aware of, implement and adhere to internal Seafish policies and procedures 

5. Decision making/use of judgement

  • Understand Information Assets and Systems across the entire business to be best suited to advise on future development of Information Systems
  • The effective assessment and evaluation of IT and IS policies and procedures to provide solutions to the numerous requests for support is essential
  • Strategic development of IT infrastructure and Information Systems to be implemented in agreement with Head of Information Systems
  • Distribution of equipment, network amendments and high level problem solving is all done in collaboration with other members of the team

6. Essential internal and external work relationships 

  • Customers - Seafish the business and Seafish colleagues
  • Collaborate with customers to actively promote the benefits of Information Systems
  • Participate in or lead teams to achieve goals
  • Negotiate with consultants and external suppliers of products and services 

7. Knowledge, skills and experience            

  • A HNC/HND in computing
  • Business orientated Information Systems design and implementation. This will include a background in scripting, programming and systems design
  • Project Management
  • First rate understanding of Information Assets and how to apply them in business environments
  • An extensive working knowledge of business networking and server systems to include Microsoft Server products, virtualisation and networking/storage systems. Building, installing, configuration and administration of network resources, server environments, PC's and laptops
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience of business orientated server/network systems and user support
  • Communication, inter-personal, presenting and written 

8. Special features

  • Full clean driving licence is essential
