Call for Members - Seafish Scottish Advisory Committee (SSAC)

Seafish is forming a Seafish Scottish Advisory Committee (SSAC) to enhance the work we carry out in Scotland. The SSAC will cement our partnership approach to delivery and will be a key element of our wider local engagement strategy.

We are now seeking applications for appointment to the SSAC committee from individuals with relevant expertise from across the seafood sectors to play an integral role in setting the future direction of the Scottish industry. Seafish wishes to appoint up to eleven members to the new committee.

In addition to providing specialist industry knowledge, applicants will demonstrate high level, strategic thinking and a passion for contributing to and supporting the sustainable economic development of the seafood sector in Scotland.

It is expected that SSAC members will work closely with the Seafish Scotland team  to formulate proposals for investment of levy in Scotland and to ensure that recommendations of SSAC are given due consideration within the Seafish decision making process.

SSAC will meet at least twice a year, with secretarial support and Seafish staff attendance. SSAC members are expected to attend all of these meetings. Meetings will take place at various locations throughout Scotland, and are expected to last around three hours. The exact timings of the meetings will depend upon the location, and overnight stays will be kept to a minimum. The position is unremunerated, and is for an initial three year term.  All reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid.

Appointment will be made based on merit; Seafish is committed to equality and diversity.
