Health and safety

Health and safety is crucial in all sectors of the seafood industry, which is why Seafish approved health and safety training is recommended to all employees.

Health and safety courses are available at two different levels: Introductory/Level 1 and Level 2/Elementary. The courses cover all the basics of health and safety essentials for the workplace, including:

  • Health and safety law
  • Risk assessments
  • Slips, trips and falls
  • Occupational health
  • Machinery and equipment
  • Electricity at work
  • Accidents and emergencies

The Level1/introductory health and safety course is a REHIS accredited short course lasting three hours.

The Elementary/Level 2 course is a longer course which is offered both as a taught course and via open learning. Both taught courses and open learning packs are supported by a seafood industry H&S training DVD available separately. The DVD is ideal as part of an in-company staff induction programme.

For more information about health and safety courses, visit the Seafood Training Academy. If you're interested in taking a course in health and safety, please e-mail us or call our Grimsby Office on  01472 252 302. Copies of the H&S DVD can be purchased by contacting our Grimsby Office.
