Marine licensing
The new marine licensing system does not apply to fishing. It does, however, apply to some forms of aquaculture, such as mussel rope farms where there could be a risk to navigation.

Next steps
- There have been two consultations. The second closed on 13 October 2010. The new Marine Licensing System will be launched in Spring 2011. The consultation (England only) sets out policy proposals for the implementation of the new system, covered key aspects including the application process, appeals against licensing decisions, and exemptions.
- Consultation on secondary legislation for Marine Licensing Enforcement - Monetary Penalties and Appeals Against Statutory Notice. 9 March 2010 - 1 June 2010. It proposes the introduction of a system of monetary penalties for licensing offences and a mechanism for people to appeal against statutory notices.
- A new consultation on Marine Licensing Systems, including fees, was launched on 2 December 2010. It is due to run until 1 May 2011.
