Industry Project Fund

The Seafish Industry Project Fund (SIPF) provides funding for research and development partnership projects and grant assistance for innovative ideas.

Now in its seventh year, the success of the fund continues to grow - to date, we have been involved in more than 80 projects proving widespread benefit to the seafood industry.

Review of applications submitted during 2011 round of SIPF

The application period closed on 9th October, and we received 60 applications requesting £3.8million worth of funding from Seafish. The applications are currently progressing through the review process.

  • Successful applications requesting more than £5,000 will be invited to submit more detailed Project Proposal Forms - useful information is contained in our 'Guidance for Applicants'
  • Applicants of unsuccessful applications will be informed soon about the outcome of their submission(s).

We have just announced more than £700,000 of funding for innovative projects and businesses. With partnership funding, these projects will be worth £1.5m for industry.

The latest round supports 15 new projects as well as the continuation of 9 projects from previous funding rounds. The scope of funded projects is wide and includes fishermen's safety and marine spatial planning. This year we have focused more attention on consumer communication and projects that promote the nutritional benefits of seafood. The 15 new projects are;

  • Innes Ross - Community education project in Scotland
  • Shellfish Association of Great Britain - National Cockle Forum
  • Shellfish Association of Great Britain - Native oyster workshop
  • Shellfish Association of Great Britain - Nephrops nutritional analysis
  • Shellfish Association of Great Britain - Pacific oyster issues
  • Shellfish Association of Great Britain - Videos on how to prepare shellfish
  • CEFAS - Oyster purification trials to reduce norovirus
  • National Federation of Fishmongers - British Fish Craft Championships
  • National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations - Models for marine planning
  • National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations - Fish stock performance
  • Sea Ilfracombe - Community education project
  • Scottish Fishermen's Federation - Marine environment consultant
  • Seafish - Educating consumers through a range of industry projects
