What we do

Our services to the processing sector aim to improve profitability, ensure responsible sourcing, and ensure consistently high quality food.

The seafood processing sector plays an important role in the UK economy - providing around 14,700 full time jobs in 480 units, according to a 2008 Seafish survey.

We support the processing sector, from small scale-operators, through to large manufacturers, to help them stay competitive and relevant in the food sector.

Processors can access our responsible sourcing information, market research services, legislation services, training and economic analysis.

The processing sector also benefits from our seafood promotion campaigns, including our work to promote the health benefits of seafood.

We also offer a range of training opportunities for processors, including specific courses on seafood handling and staff training, as well as access to recognised quality assessment schemes.

We run promotional campaigns to raise awareness of the health benefits of delicious, sustainably-sourced seafood. In the 2009-2010 financial year, this promotional activity generated more than 180 million opportunities to see the message 'enjoy seafood twice a week' in the media.
