Update on food from Japan
13 April 2011
The European Commission has produced a new set of tighter limits for radionuclides for food originating in Japan. The Regulation updates Regulation 297/2011 by requiring food imported from Japan to comply with the Japanese limits on radionuclides, which are more stringent than the limits imposed by the European Commission. The new Regulation also clarifies that fishery products sourced from the coastal areas of the 12 prefectures affected by the nuclear crisis also require an attestation, irrespective of the location of establishment from which they are exported.
