Firms welcome export boost

Food manufacturers have welcomed plans to use British embassies abroad to promote UK food and drink exports. Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Caroline Spelman had urged the Foreign Office to make better use of embassies to promote trade. This month Defra and the food and drink industry will announce a joint export strategy aimed at facilitating access to new markets by reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
