The 'Seafood Fortnight' campaign has this year been replaced by an ongoing seafood promotion. This new approach to promoting seafood serves the needs of all kinds of retailers and processors directly, whilst also delivering the message “enjoy seafood twice a week” to consumers all over the UK.
The new approach...
Market Research for major multiple retailers Our instore market research allows both larger retailers and smaller firms to better understand the way seafood consumers make purchasing decisions with a view to selling more seafood all year round.
We look at the drivers behind why, when and where consumers purchase seafood.
Right now, there is no question that the key driver behind purchasing decisions is value. But we want to help retailers understand what else is going on in the consumer’s decision-making process.
Seafood health and nutrition packs for fishmongers and independent retailers Our new seafood health and nutrition packs are designed for display in fishmongers and independent retailers. These include promotional posters, recipe ideas, 2aweek window stickers and leaflets on the health benefits of eating seafood and sustainable fishing.

Social networking sites Twitter, YouTube and Facebook are useful channels for targeting consumers from around the UK and beyond.
Our 'seafood2aweek' page on Facebook has a growing following with more people every day clicking through to take part in our seafood competitions and discussions and to find out about the 2aweek message and recipe ideas.
We are also have a seafood2aweek page on Twitter for regular updates on seafood, sustainability and development.
Themed media campaign All of this is backed by a themed advertorial campaign in national and regional media to promote the health benefits of seafood. Our advertorials will focus on specific species throughout the year including:
“Feed the family, fish on a budget” Spring 2009 “Summer BBQs” Summer 2009 “Back to School” Autumn 2009 “New Year New You” New Year 2010
We estimate that our '2 a week' message reached 33 million consumers in June, July and August 2009.
