Dr Tom Pickerell joined Seafish in July 2013 moving from California where he was the Senior Science Manager for the Seafood Watch program at Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Hazel Curtis

Chief Economist

Hazel Curtis joined Seafish in 2000 bringing her education and experience in environmental science and business management to the Economics Team. She has extensive experience in fisheries economics and fisheries management, as well as in seafood industry analysis and impact assessments.

Dr Lynn Gilmore

Seafish Northern Ireland

Joining in 2009, Dr Lynn Gilmore works with the NI seafood industry to ensure local coordination of Seafish activities. Lynn has collaborated with the seafood industry for many years, previously in Queen’s University Belfast and the Centre for Marine Resources and Mariculture working as a Research Fellow and Manager of C-Mar.

Mike Park

Mike currently holds many executive and non-executive positions across the industry. He is the Chief Executive of the Scottish White Fish Producers Association (SWFPA) and the Director and Vice Chairman of the North Sea Regional Advisory Council. Mike has spent 26 years as a skipper and owner, receiving the WWF Award for Conservation Merit.

Steve Norton

Steve was appointed Chief Executive of the Grimsby Fish Merchants Association in June 2001 and in 2014, set up a member body organisation representing all aspects of seafood and related industries within Grimsby and Humber Sub Region. Steve has worked for Young's, United Biscuits, Findus, Nestle, and Ross Fish - undertaking various managerial roles.

David Jarrad

David is the CEO of the Shellfish Association of Great Britain, the UK's membership based trade association for all shellfish matters. He is also an independent shellfish consultant, and has over 25 years practical experience operating a shellfish farming operation in environmentally sensitive areas. His contacts with the shellfish world are extensive and invaluable.

Ben Bartlett

Ben Bartlett is a food & drink consultant with over 20 years experience in the food industry. He was the first winner of Britain’s Best BBQer and regularly gives talks and demonstrations all over the country as President of the British BBQ Association. He is a food writer and has made numerous television appearances.

Barrie Deas

Barrie has been Chief Executive of the National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations since 1995. He chairs the Demersal Working Group of the North Sea Regional Advisory Council; is a member of the Executive Committee of the North West Waters RAC, and is Vice-President of Europeche.

Jim Portus

Since 1989 Jim has held the position of Chief Executive of the South Western Fish Producer Organisation Ltd. He was previously employed by MAFF as a Fisheries Inspector, after completing a BSc in Nautical Sciences at Plymouth University. In recent years, he has lobbied for change to the CFP to reflect better the needs of the fishing sector.

Richard (Gus) Caslake

Regional Engagement Advisor Seafish SW England

Gus is based in Cornwall and provides specific support to the SW England Seafood sector and has expertise in commercial fisheries inshore fisheries, fish quality and processing in the south west. Gus was a commercial fishermen for 12 years prior to joining Seafish and has a BSc in Maritime Business & Fisheries Economics.

Alex Caveen

Risk Assessment for Sourcing Seafood Manager

Alex joined Seafish in August 2013 and is responsible for developing and maintaining the RASS tool, as well as providing advice to industry on the environmental and social impacts of fishing. Before this Alex was at Newcastle University undertaking his PhD research into the science and politics of marine protected areas.

Paul Williams

Chief Executive

With a PhD from the University of Manchester and over 25 years of experience in research and development, Paul was appointed to the position of Research Director at Seafish in January 2004. He became Chief Executive in 2010 and was previously the Managing Director at EWOS Innovation.
