Motivation and Training Guide for Employers Seafood business owners who want to inspire and upskill their staff now have a new tool on hand - a training and motivation guide developed by Seafish. The guide is aimed at owners of fish & chip shops and other small seafood businesses. The guide is available free of charge upon request by contacting Seafish Training on 01472 252302.
Seafood Training Academy The National Federation of Fish Friers is an Academy member and the Academy website (www.seafoodacademy.org) contains information of use to fish friers.
Fish Frying Skills qualification In conjunction with the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), Seafish has developed a Fish Frying Skills qualification. It is a unique qualification that covers all the skills in preparing and cooking fish and chips.
The qualification will help those wanting to become fish friers, those starting up a new business and experienced staff wanting formal recognition for their skills/knowledge. When a candidate achieves the required standard following an on-site assessment, they receive a Fish Frying Skills certificate, which is jointly endorsed by Seafish and the National Federation of Fish Friers.

Customer Service Skills qualification Like the Fish Frying Skills qualification, our Customer Service qualification has been developed in collaboration with the NFFF. This specific bite-sized qualification covers the skills in serving fish and chips.
Candidates must already be working in a fish and chip shop or restaurant. The qualification will help those wanting to become counter assistants, waiters or waitresses, those starting up a new business and experienced staff wanting formal recognition for their skills/knowledge.
As with the Fish Frying Skills qualification, when a candidate achieves the required standard following an on-site assessment, they receive a Customer Service Skills certificate, which is jointly endorsed by Seafish and the National Federation of Fish Friers.
