Certification for Processors and Wholesalers

There are numerous schemes that recognise the highest standards in seafood production and wholesaling. These include SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) and BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification.

About SALSA and BRC

The BRC Global Food Safety Standard is a condition of supply requested by multiple retailers, who are also starting to recognise the SALSA scheme for small local suppliers who are not able to achieve BRC certification.

SALSA was launched in early 2007 and is a joint venture between the National Farmers Union, the Food and Drink Federation, the British Hospitality Association and the British Retail Consortium.
