TARP Regulations come into force
25 May 2011
The Trade in Animals and Related Products Regulations 2011 (SI 2011 No 1197) (TARP) come into force today 25 May 2011 and apply in England.
The TARP Regulations revoke and replace the following three main sets of Regulations, which cover imports of animal and animal products from third countries and their trade within the European Union:
- The Products of Animal Origin (Third Country Imports) (England) Regulations 2006;
- The Animals and Animal Products (Import and Export) (England) Regulations 2006; and
- The Products of Animals (Import and Export) Regulations 1996.
These Regulations provide the Enforcement Authorities with means of enforcing EU legislation that provides for imports of animal products from third countries. There have been a number of changes to the provisions for inland Local Authorities' enforcement.
