Pakistan unable to meet EU standards

A top official of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has said local fisheries authorities remain responsible for the European Union's (EU) continued ban on seafood import from Pakistan, according to an article in the Pakistan newspaper The News International.

Mujeeb Ahmed Khan, Head of the WTO Cell at TDAP, told The News that the Pakistani authorities failed to understand that the EU needs seafood from Pakistan to comply with its standards. Exporters now look at markets that accept low quality food and pay low prices, he added.
