No restrictions on Gabonese seafood

07 November 2011

The current requirement for border checks on seafood from Gabon will be removed from 10 November. Currently, all seafood from Gabon has to be tested for heavy metals and sulphites before it enters the EU. A Food and Veterinary Drug inspection carried out earlier this year has confirmed that the appropriate checks are now in place in Gabon.

Regulation 601/2008 will be repealed by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 1114/2011, available here: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:L:2011:288:0023:0023:EN:PDF
