New IUU catch certificate charges

15 March 2011

Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority has announced that the Association of Port Health Authorities (APHA) has reviewed the charges for catch certificate inspection in relation to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The review has resulted in a change to the charges, and the new charges will come into effect for consignments arriving on 1st April 2011 onwards.

For low risk consignments, a charge of £20 will apply whereas for high risk consignments the charge will be £40 per flag state. There is now a sliding scale where multiple certificates accompany a consignment, which should result in reduced costs for operators who import consignments of combined catches. More details of the charges are available on the Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority website here: http://www.porthealth.eu/announcements/changes-to-catch-certificate-inspection-charges
