EU and India make "substantial progress" towards a free trade agreement

EU and Indian leaders have made "substantial progress" towards a free trade agreement.The two sides were holding a summit in Delhi to strengthen bilateral trade. The Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh believes a deal will be worked out at the "very earliest" possibility.

Negotiations on a free trade agreement between India and the European bloc have been taking place since 2008, but tariff and visa issues have hampered progress.
