FVO reports on Bangladesh residue monitoring
27 June 2011
The Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) of the European Commission has released its report on the monitoring of residues and contaminants in live animals and animal products, including controls on veterinary medicinal products, in Bangladesh. The report follows a visit by an inspection team in March and April 2011.
The mission found that 6 of the recommendations made after a visit in 2010 had been addressed adequately; however, the remaining 4 recommendations had not. Following the latest visit, the FVO team made 4 new recommendations aimed at improving laboratory quality controls, improving the outcomes of follow-up investigations, strengthening measures to control veterinary medicines and ensuring that finfish farms are registered.
The FVO report is available on the DG Sanco website here: http://ec.europa.eu/food/fvo/rep_details_en.cfm?rep_id=2688
