Bangladesh seafood restrictions to be eased
24 October 2011
Crustacea from Bangladesh will no longer need to undergo checks for antibiotic residues at the EU border. The requirement for 20% testing, which was instated last year, was discussed in a European Commission Standing Committee meeting on 17 October. The restriction is expected to be lifted in the light of the positive findings of an FVO mission to Bangladesh earlier this year. It is likely that consignments will still need to be accompanied by a test certificate.
