Legislation
Laws, rules and codes affect the way you run your business. Understanding the rules will help you comply with legislation and also help you respond appropriately to changes in regulation.
Legislation places obligations on operators in the seafood chain to ensure that the seafood under their control complies with food safety requirements. This includes information on the traceability of seafood products for fisheries control, and labelling and packaging legislation for consumer information.
Seafish offers guidance on several aspects of seafood legislation, including importation procedures, hygiene, contaminants and labelling. Our advice and guides are produced through consultation with government authorities, including the Food Standards Agency, Defra, and the Food Legislation Expert Group (FLEG).
