About the standards

All the seafood standards featured in these pages have been used for fish or shellfish supplied in the UK.

Some are specialist to the seafood industry, others can be applied to a wide range of food sectors - but all are applicable to seafood and so may be referenced by UK suppliers, processors, retailers or caterers in their promotional materials.

Many of the Guides are international and well established, some are bespoke to the UK, others are new and yet to become well-known.   You may already be familiar with many of them from their logos which can appear anywhere in the supply chain - from fish boxes, paperwork and websites to menus, publicity materials and product labels in store.
We welcome suggestions for any further schemes which you may feel should be covered in this Guide, please contact us (add appropriate email) if you would like to recommend one.

Please note: The description of each standard is based upon information provided by each standard owner and is correct as of the date indicated on each standards page. Any questions relating to individual standards should be referred directly to the organisations concerned. Seafish will make every effort to keep this up-to-date.
