Promotional materials
We run various forms of seafood promotion for the foodservice sector, focusing on the ‘2 a week’ message.
In the 2009-2010 financial year, this Seafood and Health campaign generated more than 180 million opportunities to see the message 'enjoy seafood twice a week' in the media.
We deliver regular campaigns about the health benefits of seafood to consumers, designed to support the UK government's advice to consume two portions of seafood a week, one of which should be oil-rich fish.
What is '2 a week'?
The UK Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition has
recommended that all adults should eat at least two portions of
seafood every week, at least one of which should be oil-rich. This
is endorsed by experts at the Food Standards Agency, the British
Heart Foundation and the British Nutrition Foundation.
Seafood and Health packs
Our Seafood and Health packs include a variety of leaflets and
a booklet detailing the health benefits of eating seafood and
information about sustainable fishing.
Social networking sites Twitter, YouTube and Facebook are useful channels for targeting consumers from around the UK and beyond. Our 'seafood2aweek' page on Facebook has a growing following and we also have a seafood2aweek page on Twitter for regular updates on seafood, sustainability and development.

Consumer research

Foodservice organisations need to understand the way seafood consumers make purchasing decisions with a view to selling more seafood meals all year round.
