Part 9 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 enables the creation of a continuous signed and managed route around the coast.

Next steps

• The Act introduces a new Schedule 1A into the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949.
• A consultation was launched on 22 March 2010 to cover the process in which representations and objections may be made about Natural England's coastal access proposals. Responses were requested by 14 June 2010.
