Report highlights increase in electrofishing
13 June 2011
A Scotland on Sunday article discusses a recent report by Marine Science Scotland (MSS) on the increase in electrofishing for razor clams (known as spoots). Industry leaders are keen for the practice to be legalised, maintaining that it does not damage wildlife, and that legalisation would allow the introduction of safer practices. The MSS report maintains that electrofishing is damaging to fish and to invertebrate species.
