IUU: Commission may blacklist four countries
20 June 2011
The Directorate General of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the European Commission admitted that it is considering the inclusion of Panama, Honduras, Belize and Togo in the list of "uncooperative countries" as part of the struggle against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Monitoring and evaluation missions carried out in these 4 countries revealed poor controls on the fishing sector. Their possible inclusion in the list of non-cooperating countries could be completed in late September 2011.
