Commission consults on CFP
27 May 2011
The Commission has launched a consultation on its vision for a way forward for the Common Fisheries Policy, and is inviting comments from European citizens, member states and regional advisory councils.
The documents recommend increased precaution in fisheries where scientific data is deficient, combined with the urgent gathering of the necessary data. Interested parties that are experiencing difficulties because of effort curtailment are asked to make their difficulties known. Multiannual plans are to be revised to ensure that they are meeting the objective of managing towards good stock conditions.
Comments are requested by 20 July 2011.
