Pesticide committee report, Quarter 2 2011

06 February 2012

The Expert Committee on Pesticide Residues in Food (PRiF) has published its report on pesticide monitoring for foods purchased between April and June 2011. PRiF surveyed smoked fish for the first time and found trace residues of organochlorine pesticides in 35 of the 48 fish surveyed. The levels at which the residues were detected would not be expected to have an effect on health. They are related to historical use of the pesticides. Thirty-five samples of shellfish were also tested and found not to contain any pesticides.
