  • Sophie's work is now mostly at the junction between policy, research and implementation of sustainable fisheries management systems 
  • Sophie has been a Team leader in numerous consultancy assignments in Europe and West Africa. She is a also regular evaluator of European research projects, and a corresponding IPCC author on socio-economic adaptation and mitigation of climate change effects on fisheries.
  • She is an Honorary Senior scientist at the Geography Department of University College London, where she also lectures and supervises students projects on the importance of stakeholders to coastal and marine environmental science and policy. 
  • Recent projects include a socio-economic study of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Montenegro, the identification and formulation of an EU-cooperation programme in Algeria, a review of the EFF current implementation for the European Parliament (with IEEP) and setting up the GreenFishers Trust, an NGO showcasing fishing industry sustainability initiatives.
