Forthcoming Northern Ireland Fishing Safety events

05 October 2017

The Fisherman's Mission Centre in Kilkeel will play host to a fishing safety workshop aimed at commercial fishermen on 19th October, 7.00 - 8.30 pm

NI Safety workshops 2

The event is one of a series of fishing safety workshops being held around the coast of Northern Ireland aimed at improving safety at sea for local fishermen with events also being held in Bangor RNLI station on 17th October and Ballycastle Harbour Masters Office on 18th October (7.00 - 8.30pm). Further events will be held in Ardglass and Portavogie later in the year. All are welcome.

The events are being planned by the Northern Ireland Fishermen's Safety Forum, a group set up by fishermen, for fishermen & supported by a wide range of organisations with a remit for fishing safety including Seafish, the MCA, RNLI, DAERA, MAIB, the Fishermen's Mission, the NI Fisheries Harbour Authority and local fishermen's training providers.

The health and safety of fishermen is of paramount concern to the Northern Ireland Fishermen's Safety Forum and their target is to achieve zero fishing-related deaths in Northern Ireland by working in partnership to improve fishing safety across the Northern Ireland fleet both at sea and in and around fishing harbours.
